Ninety-five stones outside Évora turn the first international training ride into a journey deep into the Neolithic.
The Almendres Cromlech developed over several phases beginning in the sixth millennium BC. Its stones are not a Portuguese Stonehenge; the site has its own chronology, form and relationship with the surrounding landscape. Several monoliths carry carved motifs that reward close attention.
This is the first Dust Pilgrim training journey planned outside Spain. The border itself is easy within the Schengen area, but the ride still tests navigation, insurance documents, overnight luggage and recovery when plans change away from home.
The final approach has historically included an unpaved road, but surface and access conditions can change. The route will be confirmed close to departure and adapted if rain makes the old motorcycle or the track unsuitable. Original route notes will follow the filmed journey.
