A short ride south of Madrid reaches one of the strangest Bronze Age structures in Iberia: a fortified tower built around a deep well.
Motilla del Azuer was occupied during the Bronze Age, roughly between 2200 and 1350 BC. Its concentric walls protect a central tower and a well sunk to groundwater. That combination makes it much more than another ruin on a hill. It is evidence of how a community organised water, food and defence in an increasingly dry landscape.
The planned ride begins at Madrid’s Kilometre Zero and crosses the open plain of La Mancha. The distance is manageable in a day, but the film route will favour secondary roads and the old Dominator rather than the fastest motorway line. Access to the archaeological site itself is controlled, so opening times and reservations must be checked before departure.
The episode is about water and endurance, not a claim that every drought ended an empire. The camera will separate what archaeologists can demonstrate from the larger climate story. Route notes, motorcycle setup and confirmed visitor information will be added after the reconnaissance ride.
